What are your hours?
Currently, we are open 7 days a week for daycare and boarding. Our daycare is open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 7 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm.
What can be expected during a daycare stay?
During a stay, your dog will have access to a play room, the Besties lounge where they can relax or sleep, and an enclosed patio to pee, poop and get fresh air, which is unique among dog daycares in the city. We have unlimited treats to provide throughout the day, though you are welcome to bring your dog’s favourite treats too. We also provide feedings at your request, but we ask that you supply their meals with instructions on timing. If you happen to forget food, we always have back up but can’t guarantee it will be the same brand your pup usually eats.
What can be expected during a boarding stay?
We want your pup to feel right at home, and that’s why we have a separate space for dogs boarding with us overnight that’s a cozy home environment. All dogs in boarding will have access to the daycare during operating hours and get a chance to mingle and play with our wonderful group of pup clients who have been assessed based on behaviour, temperament and size. All pups in boarding are taken on walks and to the park to ensure they are getting the full spectrum of enrichment they would receive right at home with you. While you are welcome to bring their favourite treats, we also supply a variety of treats for dogs during their stay with us, just let us know if they have any food sensitivities. All dogs in boarding receive necessary medication and their preferred meals as directed by parents. We ask that meals be supplied by our clients.
Does my dog need an assessment?
Yes, we have a meet and greet with every dog before they come into our care. This allows pet parents to tour the facility and for us to get a better sense of who your dog is. We like to get a closer look at temperament and socialization style to ensure Besties is the best fit for your pup. My pup Yuzu, a 9-pound mix with a sweet temperament, is present at all meet and greets to see how potential Besties mingle with others.
How do I sign up for daycare and boarding?
Create a free profile on our client portal via the Gingr app. You can secure your spot right through the app. Please try to give us 24 hours notice when booking, but it is not mandatory. After all, we know things come up all the time so we will always do our best to accommodate you and your dog. You are always welcome to contact us at info@bestiesdogcare.ca or at 647-668-4613.
What vaccinations does my dog need?
To ensure a safe environment, all dogs will be required to be up-to-date on Rabies and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccinations. We highly recommend you consider flea and tick prevention medication as well.
Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered?
Yes, medium sized dogs over 12 months must be spayed or neutered. Smaller dogs must be altered by 8 months. Puppies under these age thresholds are welcome intact. All dogs will be assessed prior to group introduction to ensure they have a temperament conducive to a daycare environment.
What happens if I am late for pick up?
We understand that things happen! Please give us a call to let us know that you will be late and when we can expect you. However, we will have to charge $5 for every 15 minutes past 7 pm you arrive.
Are clothes allowed?
Jackets, boots and sweaters are permitted during appropriate months for outdoor time, but for the dogs safety, we like to keep dogs clothing-free indoors. We ask that all dogs wear a collar or harness with an ID tag. Tiny dogs will be exempt as we understand that no matter the environment, they run cool.
